Petrinja, the town and center of the administrative area of the same name in Sisak-Moslavina County, at the mouth of the Petrinja River in Kupa. It is located 13 km southeast of Sisak. The city has 15,683 inhabitants, and the city administrative area has 24,671 inhabitants (2011). The original settlement was located south of today’s. It is mentioned in XIII. century as a free royal city. In the middle of the 15th century century it was in the possession of the Zagreb Diocese. It was established in the 16th century. It was under Ottoman rule in 1592\u201395, and after liberation it is part of the Military Territory. During the Homeland War 1991\u201395. the settlement suffered badly under the Serbian occupation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parish Church of Saint Lawrence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parish Church of Saint Lawrence is located on the main square in Petrinja. The church is a single-nave baroque-classical building with a rectangular sanctuary with a rounded apse ending. The bell tower is decorated with pilasters and profiled cornices, and rises from the main facade. Above the main entrance is the year of construction – 1780. In the interior there are wall paintings and a valuable late baroque-classical inventory. The organ from the 18th century was replaced in 1913 with a high-quality instrument from the Heferer company. As an example of baroque-classical “gesamtkunstwerk”, this church is considered a prominent object of sacred architecture at the transition from baroque to classicism. The previous report refers to the condition of the building before the devastation. The church was completely demolished during the occupation during the Homeland War, but was rebuilt in 1995. Church of St. St. Lawrence in Petrinja has a great historical and memorial value with its unique baroque-classical structure and its outstanding urban significance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The building of the Wineyard – fruit growing school<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The building of the Wineyard – fruit growing school is located outside the village, in a picturesque landscape, on a gentle hill. The former Economic Brotherhood founded in 1864. it was transferred to the Wineyard – fruit growing school. It is one of the oldest schools in Croatia. The building was built of brick and recently plastered and painted. It has a four-gable roof covered with pepper tiles. It has a rectangular floor plan, and consists of a central tract to which two side wings are attached. The approaching north facade is simple and symmetrically designed. The interior layout of the rooms is functional and simple and partially preserved in its original state. The school has historical and cultural-educational value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
