Glina, the town and center of the city administrative area in the Sisak-Moslavina County, Banovina, is located on the right bank of the Glina River at the mouth of the Maja. The city has 4,680 inhabitants, and the city administrative area has 9,283 inhabitants (2011). It is located next to the Karlovac-Sisak railway line, it is a road junction. The first mention of the city dates back to 1205. In the Middle Ages, it was the seat of the Croatian families Hajti\u0107, Klasni\u0107, Perekovi\u0107, Tkal\u010devi\u0107, Turkovi\u0107 and others. The Turks captured it in 1563 and burned it during their retreat after the Battle of Sisak in 1593. During the XVII. century, a new settlement was created (on the present site). In 1750, it was included in the composition of the Military Territory; headquarters of the 1st Ban (Glin) Regiment and the military center of the Banska Krajina, in which it remained until its development in 1881. From 1737, the fort has the shape of an octagonal star, and the settlement is formed outside the fort according to the orthogonal scheme. In the city there is a classicist church of St. Ivan Nepomuk (originally built in the period from 1824 to 1827, under the supervision of Bartolo Felbinger; it was demolished during the Serbian aggression in 1991, and a new one was built in 2000). During World War II, in 1941, the Ustasha committed mass crimes against the Serbian population. Occupied during the Homeland War (1991), which resulted in the suffering and persecution of Croats, it was liberated in August 1995.

Memorial site of the church of St. Ivan Nepomuk<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parish Church of St. Ivana Nepomuk was located on the main town square in Glina. It was built from 1824 to 1827. The main sponsor of the construction of the parish church was the Austrian Emperor Francis, who also donated the organ to the church. Classicist one-nave building. It had a rounded sanctuary, with a sacristy next to it, and a belfry rose from the main facade. Inside the church there was a pulpit, a baptistery, pews, an organ from the 19th century, a late baroque reliquary of St. John of Nepomuk and the chalice. The church had architectural and high urban planning, memorial and historical value due to its location on the main square. During the Homeland War, it was demolished to the ground. The remains of the church and the original door are presented.

Memorial site of the martyrdom of civilian victims in the parish church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with the monument of Antun Augustin\u010di\u0107<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Orthodox parish church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary from 1827 was demolished during the Second World War. According to established scientific knowledge, violence was committed in the church during July 1941 against the civilian Serbian population from the area of \u200b\u200bBanovina. In 1969, a memorial home was built on the site of the former Orthodox church. After the “Storm”, in 1995 the Memorial Home was renamed the Croatian Home, which today houses the “Glina Library and Reading Room”. Antun Augustin\u010di\u0107’s monument “Mother and Child” is located on the ground floor in front of the Croatian Home in Glina. The bronze monument was erected in 1969 and represents a free-standing monumental sculpture of a mother holding a child on her knee. The memorial site of the Orthodox Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary with the monument “Mother and Child” by Antun Augustin\u010di\u0107 form an indivisible whole that has great historical, memorial and artistic value.
