Creating rich, widely available content in digital form is one of the key prerequisites for the protection and evaluation of cultural heritage, for networking, and presence of the Croatian cultural heritage in European, regional, and other cultural networks, for preserving cultural diversity, and for using cultural content in education, tourism, and other service industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital content is created relatively easily and is generally easily accessible and can be used in multiple ways for creating a variety of services. However, it is also significantly more exposed to various risks, including complete loss or loss of usefulness. As their quantity and use increase, so do the demands for their long-term preservation and availability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unique or harmonised norms and specifications related to the digitalisation process and parameters, properties of digital objects and collections, and functional properties of digital content management and access systems apply to ensure the interoperability, interchangeability, and long-term sustainability of content created through the digitalisation of cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The eKultura project aims to encourage and support a systematic and uniform approach to the digitalisation of materials in cultural institutions, the design and offer of cultural content and services using digital copies, and the application of information technology in the protection, processing, and use of the materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
